Inspiration & an update on my Scentsy journey...

It's been a while since I posted some inspiration and I came across these on my facebook travels today, so thought I'd share.. :)

I think I need to learn to do this!!

After 8 months of having my Scentsy 'business', I've finally gotten what I consider a 'real' proper order! My friend Fin had ordered a buddy from me and I'd gotten a few things to send to friends but I hadn't managed to sell anything to someone I didn't know... (or really even to anyone I DO know!). I was getting rather disparaged and thought I would have to give it up but thought I would make a 'last ditch effort' and drop some catalogues at hair and beauty salons in the neighbourhood offering them a trial. After a week or so, I hadn't heard back from any of them. And maybe I could have been more 'proactive' and called or stopped back in but I don't like to be 'pushy'... as I hate when I feel pressured into something. (Even if that something turns out to be positive!)

But then I got a text from a girl who had obviously picked up the catalogue while she was getting her hair done at one of the salons! It took almost a month of texting back and forth to find a time, but early last week I packed a bag, got on a bus and knocked on the door of her flat for my first ever Scentsy 'party'. Not much of a party as it was just her and me! As somehow, I'd not thought to tell her to invite some friends until the night before.. oops! But I think it was kinda great as I wasn't nervous at all and didn't feel like I had to 'perform' in front of a group of people. She was so lovely and I spent 2 hours at her flat just chatting and it felt just like hanging out with a friend. Not only that, I walked out with a fantastic order!

I text to keep her updated on the status of her order and she told me she's been promoting me to all her friends and wants to book a party near the end of November so her friends can do their Christmas shopping!

It had been hard as a lot of the girls seem to do very well with their business right from the get go, there are awards given out for people who manage to sell a certain amount within the first 15 and 70 days of joining. Which is announced and celebrated within the facebook group we are all part of, but it can get rather disheartening knowing other people have achieved these goals and I haven't.

But each person is different and each journey is different, so I'm just rejoicing in having completed my first order and hoping that things just get better from here on in!!

Life... some inspiration..

So, I've seen this floating around my crackbook feed and thought I would like to share it for those who haven't seen it...  I think it's in an album by a guy called Monty Winters who credits his friend Ed Taylor..
Something that definitely strikes a cord: "Travel often; getting lost will help you find yourself". Also "Life is about the people you meet and the things you create with them".  This is your life - Live it!!

In the past week, I have realised that you can "have time, take time or make time" for the people and the things in your life...  in the two and a half weeks since I've been back in Victoria, I feel like I've only seen very few of my friends... and I understand it's hard to "find time" with work and life and all the other little things that come with life but it has made me really appreciate the people who have taken time or made time to hang out with me... and I know I have been harping on about friends a lot in the past little while but it's something that has been at the forefront of my mind due to various events and chats with people of late... I only hope that one day I will get the chance to return the favour to all those who have given their love, friendship, hospitality and TIME! Once again, THANKS FRIENDS!!

Woman of Inspiration - Marcia Kilgore

There I was on my lunch break, casually perusing the newspaper (The Times 2 - it's a daily pullout from The Times and pretty much the only "paper" I read) and I come across an article about Marcia Kilgore.. Having sold her upteenth billion pair of FitFlops! I found out about these shoes, via some magazine somewhere years ago (I hardly ever buy magazines so I was probably in some dentist/spa/hairdresser's), and they were endorsed by Oprah.. A shoe with a gym built in??!! I had to give them a go! I was so excited about my first pair that I didn't bother reading the instructions and wore them out for a full day of shopping in the first shot... boy were my legs sore the next day!! I figured the shoes must be doing something!! To be honest, the first pair also gave me a blister between my toes and ergo they were left at mum's house when I left...

I have since bought another pair (they were on sale, and I had a code for 20% off) and I wear them ALL the time! I wear them around the house in fact.. and now that the weather is getting warmer I will be sporting them outside more as well..

Anywhos.. not only is she the entrepreneur behind these fabulous Oprah endorsed phenomenon shoe which now has brands from Sketches to Reebok ripping them off but she is also the mastermind behind the Soap&Glory  brand.. which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! Of course I'd seen them at Boots and I'd fallen in love with the packing and the puntastic product names and the clever and witty product descriptions on the back.. but I wasn't entirely sold on purchasing the stuff... my old flatmate ended up giving me a bunch of stuff when she did a Spring clean.. I was sold! Everything smells devine and seems to work a treat! I have a tube of hand food at work to banish dry hands and the fact that it makes everything smell nice is a super awesome perk!

According to the articles I've read, you can pick up their stuff at Target, so for those of you in the US of Eh, have a look for them next time you're at Target and at least have a chuckle at the clever copywriting even if you don't end up buying anything from the range!

In case all that wasn't enough she was also the founder of Bliss Spas, mostly sold to the LVMH empire for the likes of £30m {source}!! Google her, have a read.. I think she's worth the time..

I wholeheartedly agree with this sentiment... Sometimes you do something, and you think... Out of all the stupid things I've done, there are very few that I regret (in the long run, many I've regretted in the short term!) but it's always the things I didn't do that I regret the most.. sometimes you just don't get a second chance.. if it all goes to pot.. well, you'll at least have a good story to tell in a few year's time when you get over the shame and stupidity of it all.. but if you never gave it a go in the first place.. you'll never ever know.. and it totally sux to look back and wonder "what if?"...

So, throw caution to the wind and just go for it!! Why not??!!
