Lightbox and other fun Photo Apps...

Hey lovelies!!

So a while ago.. when I was looking for fun photos apps for my Samsung Galaxy S2, I downloaded Camera+Lightbox... I had a mini play around with it at home but didn't really grasp what it actually DID... I kinda just forgot about it to be honest.. along with the rest of the camera apps I got at the time...

But now that I've had my phone for a few months and have figured out how to do more than just text, call and update facebook! I've been having a play around with some of the apps and Camera+ is one I've fallen in love with... it can make your ho hum pictures look artsy and atmospheric~!!

For those of you who converse in terms of iThings... this is Android's Instagram equivalent if you will... and although Instagram are apparently launching to droid "at some stage"... there's no actual set date.. (that I know of.. tho to be completely honest, I'm not really down with the 411 on all things techy)...  although a quick Google search provided this as well as this.... (and yes.. I DID just use... down with the 411... holla~!)

Either way... I'm on the Lightbox wagon... it's free and it lets you post to fb as well as twitter and you can follow people etc etc... If you're on there already, or if you decide to join up.. come find me!!  I'm still finding my way around... Lightbox (as well as my phone!).. so, if you've been on it for a while and have any recommendations of people to follow, leave me a comment so I can check them (or YOU!) out!!

Anywhos... other fun camera apps I've discovered are Lomo Camera, Retro Camera, Photo Grid and PhotoShake.. I'd been wondering how people had been posting super cute collages to their fb.. and of course... "there's an app for that"!! I'm also about to grab pixlr-o-matic and Cartoon Camera and see how I go with those...

What fun photos apps do you have?? Which ones would you recommend?? Or are there ones you've tried and then deleted?? Or are there any other apps you'd recommend?? I'm always up for trying out new stuff and seeing what my phone can do!!

Lunch at Link : 麟手創料理

A couple of weeks ago, Mum and I spent about a week in 宜蘭縣 (Ilan County), visiting my great aunt & uncle.. (my gran's sister and her husband).. On the way there, we stopped for lunch at Link : 麟手創料理.. Mum had been there before and thought it was quite interesting and wanted to take me there... We arrived close to 1pm and without a booking, but were told they had seats, tho only the NT$1200 menu was available.

We were taken upstairs and shown to a beautifully set table.. (the table was also HUGE, tho you can't tell in this photo..)

Ginseng tea was quickly served.. in this quirkly little teacup...

Yeay! Lauren is back this week with some blanks... 

And today's theme is....COLOR!

1.  My favorite color is     aqua/teal   .

2.   My home decor color palette includes    grey, navy, brown and neutrals     .

3.  Other people always tell me I look good in the color     teal.. or compliment me on the fact that I can wear yellow..  .

4. The color I detest is      pink, especially florescent pink.. UGH..  .

5. If you were to look in my closet most of the colors you'd see would be      black & blue with lots of green, red, yellow, purple thrown in .

6. A color that I simply cannot pull off no matter how hard I try is     pink.. I just can't bring myself to wear it..  .

7.  The color of my favorite dress is    maroon   .

To my surprise, I found a 'compliment' by another user who said he'd spotted my review in the weekly newsletter!! How excitement!! Of course I had to try and find it!!! So after a brief search through the 'past newsletters'...

tho how it cuts off abruptly at the end, is driving me a bit insane...

April Photo A Day via Fat Mum Slim

Hey lovelies!!

Project 365's and Photo A Day's seem to be all the rage at the minute... so who am I buck the trend and not jump heartily onto the bandwagon!?!?  I have decided to take part in Fat Mum Slim's April Photo A Day...

Are any of you playing too??

Wish I could follow along on Instagram... (it's the only time I lament not having an iFone)... but apparently it's coming to Android in the near future... (apparently!)... so until that day comes.. I will be playing along on this lil' ol' blog o'mine!! Tho I am contemplating getting a sister blog to play along so I'm not inundating this blog with a photo a day... What do you guys think??

If I were to get a sister blog... I am contemplating getting a Tumblr rather than another blogspot address... who knows what about tumblr??!! I'm all ears eyes!!

I'd love to know if you're playing along!! And also your opinion about whether I should just put photos up here, or if I should get somewhere new to put photos?? Tho another option would be to upload a daily photo to a folder on my G+ account... and maybe doing a weekly round up for the blog... this also allows a bit of cheating if I miss a day somewhere along the line.... :)

This is all assuming I manage to stick it out for the entire month of course!!

New Header: Part 2

Hi lovelies

I have been playing around with GIMP again... and let me tell you, I can't think of GIMP without thinking "Gay Imprisoned Male Prostitute"... I dunno who told me that once.. but it's firmly lodged in my head... muaahaha.. firmly lodged... oh, I am so juvenile!!

Anywhos, before we sink any further into that sinkhole... here's what I've come up with... Now, I ain't no Art Director.. and coming to think of it.. I ain't much of a copywriter either... (I'm not really sure how I made it through 3 years of university studying Creative Advertising!! but hey.. they gave me the piece of paper at the end!!)

Opinions?? Thoughts?? Suggestions??

Oh and I managed to go back and grab what the header looked like before I changed it to what it is now...

I can't seem to settle on a footer that I like the sound of... I thought the previous one was too long.. but I'm not entirely fixed on "Adventures of the day-to-day" either...

Fill in the Blank Friday

It's been forever since I've done one of these and I'm catching up on Lauren's blog today, so thought it would be fun to do a FITB... tho she hasn't posted one for today...

this is actually one she posted in January, but it's travel themed.. and I like travel'y things... so...

1.   My favorite place I've ever traveled to is     probably the hardest question to answer! I've been to so many places and loved them all for different reasons.. I honestly can't pick one.. Japan is amazing for its food and culture and diversity.. the best holiday I've had was in Oman... Petra was absolutely amazing and just blew me away.. I loved my time on Roatan because I learnt to dive there and the pace of life was so slow and simple... I could go on..!!   .

2.    Russia     is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3.  I pass the time on a plane (or bus, or car ride or train) by     listening to music, reading, playing sudoku, watching movies or SLEEPING!      .

4.  My three must-haves when I travel are     my iPod    ,    snacks   and     a sudoku book   .

5.  My favorite travel companion is    Charlie.. he's a great makeshift pillow..  .

6.  The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is    almost been trod on by an elephant while we were on safari in Kenya.. we'd stopped to watch some elephants drinking but two of them started fighting and one of them starting backing towards us... which woulda been fine... except the jeep wouldn't start.. until about the 5th try and the elephant was literally about 2 steps away from standing on us!  .

7.  The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is    iguana on Roatan.. scorpion soup in China.. they said I could eat the scorpion at the bottom of the soup bowl.. I wasn't up for the challenge.. drinking the soup was enough for me!  .

8.  If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in    Spain or Canada...   .

9.  I have been to    13   

states in the U.S.

11 Dish Dinner!

Let me just say, the one thing I always miss when I'm away from Taiwan is the food here... Anything you want is easily accessible... at just about any hour of the day... and/or night!! From street stalls to Michelin stars and everything in between, you can be guaranteed that you'll never go hungry!

The momster and I were around 公館 (GongGuan) running some errands and decided to wander around to see what we could find to eat... We ended up eating 10 11 different dishes for dinner...that's right... TEN ELEVEN!!

We started with 大腸麵線 (wiki call it 'vermicelli with large intestine'.. not overly appetising sounding! haha) and 臭豆腐 (Stinky tofu) from a corner street cart... both dishes were delicious! The vermicelli with a splash of vinegar.. the intestine was tender and not overly chewy... the stinky tofu could have been a little bit more crisp on the outside but if you got the bits that hadn't been sitting in the sauce.. there really were no complaints!

I'm still trying to re-learn my way around GIMP... it only took me about half an hour to figure out how to move a layer... eeep!! So it's nothing overly exciting... but I kinda like that...?? I dunno... it's wayy past my bedtime.. would love to hear your thoughts tho!!

I wish I'd taken screenshots before each change I've made to this blog... so one day I can take a stroll down memory lane and see how it's changed over time...

Will have to remember to do that for the future!!

ps. I think I'm changing the body text font again soon.... any suggestions??

Hey party peeps!

So.. I am embarking on a new adventure, which I will tell you about in a separate post... but it sparked a conversation between my friend Fin and I about our perpetual want of cute cuddly things.. and how both our mothers have deemed us "too old" to have plushies... 

The conversation went a little something like this...

Wishlist : Dinosaur Jacket

So I was watching TV a few days ago and saw a couple of presenters on a local show wearing cute dinosaur jackets... so I got to a'Googling~  after a search in English yielded nothing, I tackled the task in Chinese... and found it!! It is made by a local brand called STAGE which is headed up by one of the gazillion celebrities in Taiwan... a limited edition for this year's Year of the Dragon.. (so it's it supposed to be a dragon then??!!)  O.o

I saw it on a couple of web auction sites for NT$3500/4000... Roughly... £70! Eeep!! 

Geocaching in Taiwan

Hey lovelies!

Not sure if any of you remember my last post about geocaching... ALL the way back in December... and not sure if any of you have given it a go??  But I have continued my geocaching adventures on my travels... I did quite a bit of geocaching while I was in Sweden.. I found it can make travelling solo seem less lonely sometimes.. tho at some spots, you really miss having an extra pair of eyes to help in the search!!

Anywhos, I've been on some geocaching adventures since I've been back in Taiwan staying with mum...

The first was in 鹿港 (Lukang) where my gran lives while we were back visiting over Lunar/Chinese New Year...

Testing out sending to my blog from photoshake..Mum and I went geocache hunting and to admire the cherry blossoms at the Yangming Flower Festival today..
